Scarf Rings photos finally!

"All good things come to those who wait " as the saying goes! But 5mths is probably too long really.

I'm talking about posting the photos of my scarf rings here in this blog. So finally here they are!

They are all made stretchy from a variety of handmade, metal, glass & hard plastic beads along with some Swarovski crystal beads & come in 3 sizes, small (3cm hole), medium (5cm hole), large (6cm). They will stretch to almost twice this size. The large ones will suit all those lovely thick woolly scarves, the medium ones will suit the smaller winter scarves along with larger cotton or silk type summer scarves or sarongs, while the small ones will only fit on silk or the finer type summer cotton scarves or bandanas.

History of the Scarf Ring.

These scarf rings are all taken from an 18-1900's Spanish design for a hair adornment that was used to tie a bundle of the long voluptuous wavey black trusses most Spanish women had into a good sized loose bun at the back or top of their head. Much like using a rubber or elastic band only much more beautifully designed. The beads were mostly glass although metal was also used. Cheaper versions were made of papier mache or clay & painted bright colours.

So they can also be used for holding long hair in a bun. However due to the weight of some of them they would best suit hair that was quite wavey & springy & not too slippery.

Knots to use with them.

There are several knots that can be used to tie your scarf & use your scarf ring so I will try to make a short video to show these knots. The small scarf rings are $15each incl postage in Australia & the medium & large scarf rings are $30each including postage. This cost is for postage within Australia. Please contact me for postage costs to other countries.

Here is the link to the album containing larger sized photos of all the current scarf rings I have.

See all the scarf rings in the slideshow playing in the right side panel of this blog.

Update as at Dec2013 most of these are sold but if you like one you see here I can make one similar although it won't be identical. Please email me clissat@gmail.com

Here are photos of just a few of the scarf rings:-
